Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Tuesday
A cool, unstable airmass and westerly flow continue to bring snow showers to our mountains Friday evening, but they should be light. An approaching frontal system moves into our coastal waters, bringing aligning a warm front with the Washington Coast by 4 AM on Saturday, and increasing light snow across our region. The warm front crosses the region during the day, bringing increasing moisture with generally moderate snowfall and a rising snow level. While this should be a mostly snow event for Snoqualmie, the snow level could bump up briefly just above the 3000 ft level during the mid-day hours as snow levels rise 1000-2000 ft across the region with the warm front. This should be a 4-8" by the end of the day Saturday for Mt. Baker, Stevens Pass, and Snoqualmie Pass. Paradise and Mt Hood may see around 12". The frontal system comes with moderate to strong alpine winds, mainly south of Mt. Baker, but winds should not be as strong as with the previous system.
The region remains briefly in the warm sector of the storm with a cold front dropping south late in the day on Saturday, cutting off precipitation from north to south Saturday night. Mt. Hood may close to another foot of snow Saturday night before.
A trough filters into the region on Sunday, bringing convergence activity and some snow showers back to the region with colder temperatures late Saturday night and Sunday.
