Weather Synopsis for Friday & Sunday
A surface trough rotating up through SW Washington this morning will drive a moderate band of showers through the Cascades later this morning. As the trough passes through, easterly flow in the Cascade Passes will switch to westerly. This should also allow snow levels to mix more uniformly throughout the Cascade range to 2500-3000 ft this afternoon.
The stacked low pressure system offshore will create unstable atmosphereic conditions with a slightly spring-time look and feel this afternoon. Daytime heating should keep light showers in the forecast for all areas. Any partial clearing trends realized through mid-day should fill back in as shower coverage increases in the afternoon.
Showers should wane overnight, and we should go through a similar pattern tomorrow with increasing light showers and cloud cover in the afternoon as the broad upper trough spreads to the interior West. Cloud bases on both days should lift somewhat during the day, but stay below ridgecrest.
