Weather Synopsis for Monday & Sunday

A Puget Sound convergence zone that narrowed in on Snoqualmie Pass Sunday evening has become scattered snow showers along the west slopes Monday morning as the flow aloft has turned more northerly. Snow levels will remain seasonally cool on Monday.

Wrap around clouds from the broad upper low that passed through Sunday will slide south over the Cascades through late morning. A clearing trend is indicated for the afternoon as high pressure begins build offshore and noses into British Columbia. However, warming aloft and the weak onshore flow should keep a fair amount of moisture banked up along the west slopes. Forecast soundings indicated the clouds capped around crest level, with a full clearing trend for the upper volcanoes. Isolated showers will be possible through the early evening, including for the higher terrain of the east slopes.

As the broad upper level low digs over Nevada and Utah and high pressure builds to our north, the PNW will be caught in moderate NE flow. Northeasterly winds will stay brisk at Cascade crest level through Tuesday night.  A slow warming trend should be seen over the short term.
