Weather Synopsis for Wednesday & Monday
Santa did not deliver a healthy helping of powder for Christmas 2013 - perhaps it was not on your list? Instead, a weak frontal system offshore will bring a mix of mostly cloudy conditions to the north Cascades and Olympics and transition to mostly sunny conditions toward Mt. Hood. An upper ridge offshore will deflect a system into central British Columbia over the short term except for some light warm frontal moisture that may impact the north Cascades on Thursday morning.
Freezing levels will be on the mild side, especially down south. Easterly flow through the passes, strongest today, should help keep freezing levels locally lower. A Pacific frontal system approaching from the west Thursday night should push the upper ridge inland and lead to a general increase in clouds and upper mountain winds.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Monday night through Monday
A frontal system should sweep through the area on Friday with a burst of moderate precipitation for the west slopes of the Washington Cascades and quickly lowering snow levels late in the day. Forecast models disagree on the strength of this system - the European model has a weaker system that splits as it approaches the PNW. The upper level ridge should rebuild offshore over the weekend. Freezing levels will likely be slow to rebound on Saturday, making for a mostly dry and cool day. Sunday should be warmer and mostly dry, again some light warm frontal precipitation may slip under the ridge and affect the north Cascades.
Extended Weather
