Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Saturday
The same front that locally produced nearly 2' of snow at Mt. Baker in the last 24 hrs is still draped from about Snoqualmie Pass and southward early this afternoon. While leftover showers along the west slopes of the Cascades should decrease this evening and become more scattered overnight, skies will remain cloudy as the conveyor belt of mid and high level clouds associated with the jet stream moves over the area in SW flow aloft. Much colder air will filter into the region tonight behind the front with snow levels falling to around 1000' for most areas.
A cold upper level trough will rotate through the area on Saturday. We'll have a marginally unstable air mass and with the trough's passage in the afternoon, an additional lifting mechanism to kick off more widespread shower activity. If you see a shower, the snow level will likely drop to 1000-2000' across the region. A few late afternoon sunbreaks are possible but are unlikely to define the afternoon cloud cover near and west of the Cascade crest. Relatively more sunshine is possible for the east side of Mt. Hood, the Olympics, and further east of the Cascade crest.
Showers will decrease Saturday night. The cold upper trough will move over the WA/CAN border on Sunday. Shower activity looks isolated in nature and confined to the Olympics and north Cascades with dry conditions likely elsewhere. The cloud forecast is far from certain with the potential for mid or high level moisture passing over.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Saturday night through Saturday
The overall weather pattern won't change much with a mostly dry and cool day forecast for Monday. A shortwave upper level ridge passes over the area Monday night. An approaching Pacific frontal system quickly flattens the ridge with cloud cover streaming over the northern half of Washington state during the day on Tuesday but precipitation is likely to stay north of the border. Freezing levels will begin to moderate on Tuesday with the change in the upper level pattern.
