Weather Synopsis for Monday & Monday
The first in a series of upper level disturbances is currently passing through the area this morning in NW flow aloft. Light rain and snow mainly for the west slopes of the Cascades will increase in the afternoon as a stronger, wetter shortwave trough passes through the region. Snow levels will be on the rise with the major Cascade Passes switching to rain during the day. Moderate to strong westerly winds will impact most areas in the pattern with more extreme winds above the Cascade crest level and down in the Mt. Hood area.
Expect winds and snow levels to stay elevated overnight. Precipitation is heaviest late this afternoon through early tomorrow morning for Snoqualmie and Steven Passes and Paradise area with lighter amounts elsewhere. Steady precipitation transition to scattered showers on Tuesday. A more organized frontal band approaches the coast late Tuesday afternoon and night, renewing steadier precipitation.
