Weather Synopsis for Wednesday & Saturday
An upper level ridge will keep us clear and dry through Friday, so enjoy the sunshine. Strong surface high pressure in southwestern British Columbia will slide down into the inland NW today, and help to increase the offshore pressure gradients. This in turn will produce moderate easterly winds through the Cascade Passes from Stevens south to White Pass, for areas like Crystal Summit and for the mid-elevations of Mt. Hood. Cool easterly winds will help keep temperatures from getting too warm in these areas today.
However, warmer air offshore will make some inroads today, with the Olympics and Mt. Baker area popping up to free-air freezing levels (5500+). The story will be similar on Thurday, but as easterly flow begins to ease Thursday afternoon, look for warmer air to pop freezing levels from Snoqualmie Pass and south to Mt. Hood.
