Weather Synopsis for Monday night through Wednesday

After several days of storms, things should quiet down considerably Monday night. Don't rule out a stray shower in the early evening, but most locations should experience dry and generally clear conditions. A high-pressure ridge will continue to strengthen in the eastern Pacific and become the dominant factor in our weather for the next several days. It should provide us with dry, cool, and clear weather over the short-term forecast period. Northerly flow will draw cold air into the region from Canada Monday night and combine with mostly clear skies to create chilly conditions in all locations. After a cold start to Tuesday morning, plenty of sunshine will allow temperatures to increase, with several mountain locations reaching freezing later in the day. Winds should also kick-up in the afternoon as the high-pressure nudges east and sets-up offshore flow.

Things get a bit more complicated Tuesday night into Wednesday. Warm air tries to work its way into the Olympics and Cascades from the west and battles cold air in place east of the mountains. You could see multiple freezing levels during this set-up. Look for trailhead locations to experience cold crisp nights with temperatures again increasing during the day.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Wednesday night through Wednesday

The weather appears to stay quiet through the rest of the week. The high pressure responsible for our dry weather gradually shifts east and weakens, but holds an approaching system at bay. The biggest impact seems to be more mid and high-level clouds. We should continue to experience a strong daytime warming and nighttime cooling pattern with the possibility of multiple freezing levels. This will be most pronounced in the mountain passes. Weather models indicate the next chance at significant precipitation comes Saturday.
