Weather Synopsis for Sunday & Sunday

Areas of light snow ahead of a strong frontal band will mainly affect the Olympics and west slopes of the Cascades this morning. A thin but strong cold front should blow through the Olympics later this morning and the Cascades around noon, bringing with it a round of heavier precipitation and increasing winds. Convective showers combined with orographic westerly flow following the frontal passage will keep scattered but occasionally moderate showers and strong westerly winds going through this evening.

A wetter and more significant weather system is on tap for later Sunday night and Monday as warm frontal precipitation begins to move into the region late tonight. Precipitation rates should increase during the day on Sunday with many areas becoming moderate to heavy by the afternoon. A slow warming trend will ensue with westerly winds increasing throughout the day.  Moderate to heavy precipitation, warming, and significant winds will continue into Monday night.
