Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday
Any lingering showers should come to an end Friday evening as a high-pressure ridge builds off the coast and helps the region dry. The trickiest part of this forecast could be the overnight cloud cover. With moisture leftover near the surface, you could find low-level clouds and/or fog in mountain valleys and passes.
Saturday looks dry in nearly all locations as the high-pressure drifts east. An approaching system will spread clouds across the region. Look for cloud cover to increase and thicken during the day. Your best chance for a sun break could be in the morning or in locations east of the Cascade crest. Precipitation should be held offshore, possibly sliding into the Olympics late in the afternoon. Warm air will push into the western and southern portions of the region increasing temperatures and raising freezing levels. Cold air should stay established east of the Cascades. Expect a cool easterly flow to develop through the passes with locally lower freezing levels.
Precipitation will spread across the area Saturday night and Sunday. This isn't a particularly wet storm and it seems to fall apart as it pushes onshore. Expect rain and snow showers with light accumulations. Right now, the passes appear to stay all snow with cool east flow, but there could be a few moments of mixed precipitation at Snoqualmie Pass.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday
The weak weather system exits the region Sunday night with a few lingering showers. Drier conditions should prevail Monday as a shortlived high-pressure ridge builds across the northwest. The models continue to show a pattern change New Year's Eve as a series of weather systems impact our area. At the moment, there's quite a bit of uncertainty around snow levels and precipitation. Keep an eye on this weather change over the next several days.
