Weather Synopsis for Wednesday & Sunday

Merry Christmas folks! Unfortunately, Santa couldn't make up his mind about the storm track this holiday season and we're stuck in a split flow pattern with a gradually filling trough over the region. A stalled front fizzling over PNW coastal region today may bring a dusting of snow to the Olympic Mountains and possibly Mt. Hood. Temperatures are cold, so light precipitation should generally fall as snow. Winds should be light or calm. Meanwhile, an upper low offshore drops southward during the day, sending the more active weather southward to California.

A weak shortwave ridge wedges into the region Wednesday night, stirring up some very light NE winds ahead of the ridge axis which arrives Thursday morning along with high clouds and westerly winds increasing ahead of the next frontal system. The light precipitation associated with this front should hold off until Thursday night.
