Weather Synopsis for Sunday & Sunday

The series of storms that brought snow to the mountains over the last several days should warp up Sunday, but not before dropping a few more inches of snow in some locations around the central Washington Cascades. If you are out in the mountains today you will likely notice it looks and feels like winter. Air temperatures are chilly, with snow levels hovering between 500 feet in the north to 2000 feet near Mt Hood. Snow showers should persist in a few areas Sunday. Most of the activity will be concentrated in convergence bands north of Mt Rainier. If you find yourself under one of these bands of showers, you could see prolonged precipitation. In other locations, don't rule out a stray shower, especially in the morning, but you'll generally find dry conditions.

Showers should end Sunday afternoon as a high-pressure ridge slides over the area. Expect a cold night with fog or low clouds possible in the mountain passes and valleys. On Monday, warm air will move into the western and southern regions of our forecast area as a warm front passes offshore. There could be a few stray showers Monday, but these should be limited to the Olympics and Mt Baker areas. The high-pressure ridge ought to keep most of the precipitation offshore allowing for a dry day in most locations.
