Weather Synopsis for Sunday night through Friday
A cold air mass continues to spill into the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures will be cold enough for mountain snowfall throughout the forecast period, so the question becomes precipitation amounts. A weak disturbance passing across southern British Columbia will enhance snow shower activity Sunday with many areas near and west of the Cascade Crest picking up 1-3" of snowfall; slightly more significant snowfall amounts can be expected in areas of convergence in the Central Washington Cascades, but also the Mt. Hood region.
Snow shower activity begins to taper off through the day on Monday and continues that trend through Monday night. Mt. Hood may be an exception to that rule where stronger winds and orographic enhancement should allow for sustained mountain enhancement.
On Tuesday, a compact, but rapidly developing and powerful storm approaches the Oregon Coast from the NW. During the day Tuesday, winds will shift from W to SE, but snow should maintain over the Mt. Hood region primarily.
