Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday
We are in for a significant change in the weather pattern over the weekend. Upper level ridging oriented along the West Coast will begin to move inland during the day tomorrow, opening the door for a fast moving frontal system in NW flow aloft.
After a day with increasing clouds over the northern half of the forecast area and increasing alpine winds Saturday, the front will pass through the Washington Cascades early Sunday morning. The heaviest precipitation will be associated with the frontal passage, especially along the west slopes of the Cascades. Snow levels will stay elevated in the 5500-6000 range until after the front's passage. Look for strong post-frontal west winds along the east slopes of the Cascades Sunday morning.
Scattered showers will follow on Sunday as snow levels fall into the 3500-4000 ft range. There is some uncertainty to whether or not a Puget Sound Convergence will develop, bringing locally heavier showers to the central Cascades.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday
NW flow will alow several weather disturbances to glance the area Sunday night through Tuesday. The most organized of the bunch looks to be a weak low pressure system off the central Washington coast on Monday, bringing a quick but significant shot of precipitation to the south Washington Cascades. Snow levels will lower substantially into early next week, so any precipitation we do receive will be snowfall. Tuesday should be the start of a drying pattern that lasts at least until Friday of next week as a cold and broad upper level trough settles over the SW US.
