Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Tuesday

High amplitude upper level ridging over inland British Columbia and the U.S. West coast will keep us dry today. A weak north-south oriented frontal system offshore and extending from a low pressure system off the Alaskan Panhandle will flatten the ridge this afternoon, allowing high clouds to continue streaming over much of the area. The most cloud cover is likely for the Olympics and Mt. Baker area while somewhat less cloud cover is expected for the south Washington Cascades and Mt. Hood. Even with the variable cloud cover, temperatures/freezing levels will be quite mild for mid-March. 

High clouds will stick around overnight as the upper level ridge begins to rebuild offshore. On Sunday, high pressure will dominate the weather pattern and skies will be clear and freezing levels will bump up a notch. Offshore flow will increase during the day on Sunday, with east winds picking up in the usual locations from roughly Stevens Pass and south to Mt. Hood.
