Weather Synopsis for Sunday night through Wednesday
After a gorgeous Sunday, an approaching Pacific frontal system will begin to spread some high clouds into the northern half of Washington state overnight. The high overcast will be slow to fill in for areas south of Stevens Pass through Monday afternoon as the trough digs offshore, slowing the front's eastern progress. Ahead of this frontal system, there should be a brief but noticeable warming trend as warmer air is advected into the region. Winds will also pick up noticeably for the Mt. Baker area Monday afternoon.
Snow levels should drop quickly with the onset of precipitation Monday afternoon for the Olympics and north Cascades and Monday evening for areas further south. Precipitation should increase further Monday night with the cold front dragging through the Cascades during the early morning hours. On Tuesday, post-frontal showers in W-NW flow will add additional snow accumulations for the west slopes of the Cascades and Mt. Hood with one or more convergence zones forming for locally heavier amounts. West-SW gusty winds should be seen at Pass level to ridgecrest.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Wednesday night through Wednesday
Showers should wind down quickly Tuesday night as the upper trough carves over the Great Basin. We'll be on the backside of the trough on Wednesday with an upper level ridge building offshore. On Wednesday, there should be enough low level moisture and weak onshore flow at the surface for mostly cloudy conditions and perhaps the stray afternoon shower over the mountains. Forecast models diverge for Thursday. Some keep the PNW dry, while the GFS dissipates a weak frontal system over the area in the afternoon.
