Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Saturday
A cold upper low has drifted to eastern Washington and will gradually weaken as it drifts very slowly southward through Saturday evening. The associated surface low is almost non-existent offshore, so bands of showers are expected to continue wrapping around the upper low into the Mt. Rainier and Mt. Hood areas before gradually dissipating from north to south overnight. Expect inconsistent accumulations in the 0-4" range for the Mt. Rainier and Mt. Hood areas.
Strong radiational cooling under clearing skies with light winds should allow temperatures to get chilly on Friday night. As the upper low sags progressively southward, a high-pressure wedge will gradually move into the region, bringing a warming trend Saturday through Sunday with mostly. Lingering moisture with cold air aloft may touch off isolated afternoon benign convective snow or graupel showers on Saturday. Saturday night and Sunday will be mostly clear/sunny with temperatures approaching seasonal norms by Sunday afternoon.
Light east flow will develop Friday evening through the passes and will continue throughout the period.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Saturday night through Saturday
Sunday night and Monday the high-pressure wedge will make further gains with strong diurnal contrast and potentially above normal temperatures in some areas on Monday. High clouds are expected to move onshore over western Washington late in the day as a respectable front slides down the British Columbia coastline with the frontal system slated to impact our region Monday night and Tuesday with light to moderate rain/snow and some wind. Temperatures will cool rapidly in the north, but areas further south are likely to experience rain up to mid-elevations. East flow as the front approaches is likely to keep the Cascade passes all snow as cold air remains pooled east of the Cascade Crest.
