Weather Synopsis for Thursday & Monday
930 AM Update: Hurricane Ridge Precipitation and Weather updated for today for more snow.
A stacked low pressure system offshore will merge with an open trough rotating north today and tonight creating a messing weather system will poorly defined frontal features. Precipitation associated with a warm front of sorts will lift north today with light rain and snow spreading from Mt. Hood this morning to Mt. Baker late in the day. Something we haven't seen in awhile, mild air, will be drawn up for areas west of the Cascades with a noticeable bump in freezing levels for Hurricane Ridge and the Mt. Baker area before precipitation begins this afternoon and snow levels lower.
Strong offshore gradients will draw cold air from the east side of the Cascades creating windy conditions for Stevens Pass down to Mt. Hood as well as keeping the warm air at arm's length through tonight.
A weak cold front should pass rotate through the Cascades mid Friday morning. This will switch the flow from east to west and allow snow levels to mix more uniformly throughout the region.
A broad area of low pressure will allow unstable conditions and a showery regime to take hold Friday. Snow levels will creep up slightly on Friday.
