Weather Synopsis for Monday & Friday

A weak trough will exit the area this morning bringing decreasing rain and snow showers on a split SW flow. The heaviest showers will be on the windward slopes of the North Cascades (Mt. Baker) and the Olympics.

Although many areas will become dry in the afternoon, cloud cover will remain ahead of a stronger frontal system impacting western Washington and Oregon late in the day, spreading rain and snow along with increasing winds to the Olympics. Overnight and Tuesday, the front produces moderate to heavy rain, high elevation snow and very strong wind along with warming temperatures to the Cascades and Olympics from Monday night until the frontal passage during the mid to late morning hours on Tuesday when temperatures peak. Moderate rain and snow along with moderate to strong crest-level winds will continue in the post-frontal regime.

Most pass locations will experience a changeover from snow to rain and then back to snow later Tuesday or Tuesday night as temperatures gradually cool.
