Weather Synopsis for Sunday night through Sunday
Warm frontal moisture from a wet and mild system with a subtropical tap has reached the Olympic Peninsula late this afternoon. Precipitation from this system will mainly impact the Olympics and North Cascades until the associated frontal boundary pushes through late Monday night. Mt. Baker will pick up the most precipitation from this event over the next 2 days.
Snow levels will rise tonight and again on Monday. Precipitation should start out as a light wintry mix with some freezing rain at Stevens and Snoqualmie Passes before transitioning to light rain Monday morning. Areas along the west slopes of the Cascades will see mostly rain from this event below 7000'. Washington Pass will hold onto colder air longer and this system should produce mainly snowfall for that area while areas further south along the east slopes will also eventually transition to rain.
As the front passes through the Cascades Tuesday, cooler air will filter into the region and the precipitation will become showery in nature.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Sunday night through Sunday
Post-frontal showers should diminish Tuesday night.
A weak trough will approach the area Wednesday and Wednesday night with relatively cooler snow levels. Shower activity generally looks scattered and there may be a dry window Wednesday night.
The jet stream will be aimed into Northern California on Thursday. As a result, a developing low pressure system will be steered south of our area, leaving us with disorganized showers in the longwave upper level trough. Snow levels will gradually lower at the end of the week.
