Weather Synopsis for Monday & Friday
The upper level low located offshore around 45N/135W that lifted multiple warm fronts over the area Sunday and Sunday night will rotate a shortwave through this morning that mainly affects Mt. Hood and the far southern Washington Cascades. A convergence zone focused on the north Cascades should peter out this morning and in general scattered showers should remain this afternoon with a few sunbreaks possible especially for the Olympics and north and central Cascades.
The low will begin to eject eastward on Tuesday, rotating up another shortwave producing light snow for Mt. Hood and the south Washington Cascades, both east and west slopes on Tuesday. This should be quickly followed by a developing low pressure system in westerly flow that reaches the Oregon coast by Tuesday afternoon, spreading renewed precipitation into the Mt. Hood area Tuesday and Tuesday night.
Confidence in precipitation forecasts on Day 2 are low as heavier precipitation could extend further north Tuesday and Tuesday night as well as along the east slopes of the central and south Cascades due to upslope enhancement. What seems like a better bet is that easterly winds will increase Tuesday afternoon and night with much colder air once again being drawn out to the west slopes of the Cascades and Olympics.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday
A broad upper trough will continue to stretch and shift south on Wednesday with showers lingering longest over Mt. Hood tapering down during the day. Colder air should be settled in by Wednesday. Despite the drying trend there should be some light upslope cloudiness along the east slopes with a better chance of clearing over the NW Cascades.
Upper level ridging will build into British Columbia on Thursday and we are looking for a dry period through the end of the work week. Temperatures should moderate on Friday and an approaching Pacific frontal system may start to spread clouds inland in the afternoon.
