Weather Synopsis for Thursday & Wednesday

A broad ridge of high pressure leaves the Pacific Northwest warmer than average. The ridge aims the jetstream and frontal systems north into British Columbia. A warm front skirting the northern edge of the region brings very light rain and snow to the North Cascades. Mt. Baker could pick up a trace to an inch of snow Thursday morning. The mid-level clouds associated with the frontal systems have a southern boundary extending from near Snoqualmie Pass to Seattle and Quillayute. The ridge axis should move over the region today, pushing some of the cloudcover northward. However, a band of mid or high-level clouds off-shore may maintain some clouds once the very light rain ends this morning. The northern parts of the forecast area will be marked by relatively cooler conditions (still warmer than average), while southern parts of the region enjoy a very mild, sunny day with light winds.

Skies should be mostly clear tonight in may areas with freezing levels remaining elevated. Valley fog will be possible in some locations.

Friday should be another mild day with mostly sunny skies in the morning and then clouds increasing in the evening as a stronger cold front moves into the near-shore waters promising more active weather Friday night into Saturday.
