Weather Synopsis for Sunday & Tuesday
The next 36 hours feature benign weather with a trough bringing cold temperatures across the region.
As of 6 AM on Sunday morning, temperatures at NWAC stations were generally falling into the 10's and 20's, with single digits for stations between 6000 ft and 7000 ft. Very light snow shower activity lingers for west slopes of the Cascades and should end for most of the Cascades by mid-morning, leaving partly cloudy skies and decreasing clouds with full sunshine developing east of the Cascade Crest. Generally light 5000 ft winds continue to decrease across the region.
A shortwave trough visible on the satellite Sunday morning should spread increased clouds and light snow showers into the west slopes of the Olympic Mountains late in the day and overnight. Hurricane Ridge might get some light snow showers Sunday evening before a chance for some light snow moves into the west slopes of the Cascades late Sunday night into Monday morning. This might touch off some light convergence from Snoqualmie to Stevens Pass areas, but NNW flow aloft behind the feature should mean the light to very light snow shower activity generally ends by afternoon.
Snow levels vary with diurnal warming from 0 up to around 1000 ft on both Sunday and Monday.
