Weather Synopsis for Sunday & Thursday
Showers will continue this morning as a developing frontal wave off the WA/OR border moves toward the PNW today. Precipitation should start to pick up in the afternoon with a frontal passage following in the evening as a weak surface low lifts into Vancouver Island overnight. There is a strong temperature difference across the state with the Cascade Passes in or near single digits this morning with 20s and 30s for the rest of the west slopes. Before the frontal passage this evening...a period of mixed precipitation may be seen in the Passes. Behind the front milder Pacific air should move in with more middling snow levels. As the low lifts and stalls near Vancouver Island tonight...moderate to heavy showers should be directed toward the Mt. Baker area.
A weak frontal wave should move into the south Washington Cascades and Mt. Hood on Monday bringing another round of moderate precipitation mainly for those areas in the afternoon. Steady precipitation should transition to showers Monday night.
