Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Sunday

If you're looking for a 24 hour period of dry weather in the next 10 days...you've come to the wrong place. Weak upper level ridging will pass over the area tonight as we take a brief pause from widespread precipitation and winds.  A quick-moving frontal band will approach the coast on Saturday morning and pass through the Cascades late morning/mid-day. While this front is moving too quickly to bring copious amounts of moisture, there should be a period of light to moderate precipitation during the morning hours as the front and associated precipitation lifts from south to north across the area. Snow levels that are currently stuck around 4000' will briefly lower early tomorrow morning with a shot of cool easterly flow specific to the Cascade Passes, but all areas will once again settle in the 4000-5000' range by tomorrow afternoon, except for Mt. Hood where snow levels will be slightly higher.

Showers should wind down Saturday night before a stronger and deepening low-pressure system quickly moves up along the Washington Coast. Warm frontal precipitation will bring another round of precipitation and warming late Saturday night and Sunday morning before the cold front passes through late morning. Post-frontal showers look heaviest from I-90 northward Sunday afternoon especially for the Mt. Baker area.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Sunday night through Sunday

The rapid-fire cadence of storms will continue through at least next week as westerly flow aloft and a flattened upper level ridge off the Baja peninsula allow the storm track to keep weather systems coming our way. A stronger system may impact the area on Tuesday but confidence is low in the particulars for any one storm.
