Weather Synopsis for Monday & Wednesday

A weak cold front approaches the Pacific Northwest coastline and stalls over the Olympic Peninsula by late morning. It's spreading some mostly cloudy skies across the region and periods of light rain and snow across the Olympics and Mt. Baker areas. The front should bring some modest cooling during the morning hours (perhaps 5-10F in some areas west of the Cascade Crest). E flow through the mountain gaps should gradually decrease today and ramp up tonight as a stronger system approaches and incorporates the stalled frontal boundary. The stronger system should spread increasing light rain and snow across the region, with areas other than the Olympics and Mt. Baker experiencing precipitation mainly after midnight.

The cold front reaches the coastline by Tuesday morning and should progress through the Cascades by early afternoon bringing increasing moderate rain and snow (likely heavy at Mt. Baker) and moderate winds peaking Tuesday afternoon. E flow continues to keep the Passes cool while cooling aloft lowers snow levels from 2500-3500 ft to 2000-3000 ft by the end of the day as moderate post-frontal showers continue to bring accumulating snows. Mt. Baker looks to receive the most snowfall with this event, which should continue into Tuesday night.
