Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Wednesday
You may find some low clouds and/or fog in the mountain valleys and passes this morning, but this looks to be shortlived. We're expecting dry conditions across the region Saturday as a high-pressure ridge moves over the area. An approaching storm should bring increasing and thickening clouds throughout the day in most locations. Look for partly cloudy skies in the morning to eventually become cloudy by the afternoon. Warm air pushes into the western and southern portions of the region increasing temperatures and raising freezing levels ahead of the precipitation. Cold air should hang in there east of the Cascade crest and allow for cool easterly flow through the Passes.
The approaching system seems to fall apart as it moves onshore, significantly diminishing any chance at meaningful precipitation. Showers will nudge into the Olympic Pennisula and possible the North Cascades by late afternoon, but precipitation doesn't really spread into the mountains until the evening. Right now Stevens Pass appears to stay all snow, but Snoqualmie and White Pass could see mixed precipitation and even very light rain overnight. This fizzling event hangs up on the Cascade crest and doesn't appear to bring much, if any, precipitation to areas farther east.
On Sunday, showers drift south with any lingering accumulations focused on the Cascade volcanoes from Mt Rainer southward. Temperatures should cool slightly as the storm exits and the higher elevation winds turn more northerly.
