Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Monday

Our atmospheric river event is coming to an end as the frontal boundary, currently stretched out across much of western Washington to the Cascades begins to weaken. A weak wave off the northern California coast will begin to cut-off the seemingly endless moisture source. Before that time, moderate precipitation will continue for the Mt. Baker area, the Cascade Passes and the Mt. Rainer/Crystal area for a good chunk of today. Hurricane Ridge is already nearing the backside of the heaviest precipitation this morning. There were some amazing water amounts over the last 3 days, with 3 - 7 inches WE for the Olympics and west slopes of the Washington Cascades.

Snow levels will be slow to cool today. Milder air that has made its way over to the east slopes of the Cascades will take a bit longer, with snow levels barely dropping through this evening.

An open upper level trough passes through the region later tonight and Sunday.  After a mainly dry period Sunday morning, a developing weather system may start to spread light precipitation up from the south Sunday afternoon affecting mainly Mt. Hood and the south Washington Cascades.  Depending on the system's track, the Olympics and north Cascades may see some sunshine or at least some filtered sunshine through high clouds for much of the day.
