Weather Synopsis for Tuesday night through Saturday
What's left of the recent weather system is moving out of the region this evening with colder and drier air coming in from the north. This system dropped a few inches of snow in many areas above about 5000 ft but wasn't the big snow producer we need to really kick-off winter.
Tonight you can expect northerly winds to bring dry cold air in from Canada and create a stark contrast to the last 24 hours. Drying will occur first in the north before spreading south as the exiting system continues to move down through Oregon. You may find fog in some of the valleys and near the Cascade Passes overnight as slight inversions set-up.
This cold snap will be short-lived, however. A cold morning will quickly be replaced with sunny weather and warming temperatures. A high-pressure ridge will build in the Pacific and slowly shift east. This will keep us dry and allow for warm air to move across western Washington. Cold air east of the Cascades will keep places such as the Methow Valley, Leavenworth, and Cle Elum cooler and create a marked east-west temperature difference. This dry pattern will persist into Wednesday night into Thursday as warmer and warmer air moves into the area.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Saturday night through Saturday
Look for the warm dry pattern to hang around until the weekend. The high-pressure ridge will continue to shift east and deflect any approaching weather systems. The next real chance for precipitation comes on Saturday as the ridge flattens and another weather system approaches.
