Weather Synopsis for Sunday night through Tuesday

Through mid-week, a high amplitude upper level ridge currently along the West Coast will split the jet stream around the Pacific Northwest, sending storm tracks well to our north or south.  Dry, mild, and locally windy conditions sum up the weather over the next 72 hours. Outside of localized night-time temperature inversions, the mountain weather stations in our network will likely not dip below freezing for the entire work week.

Monday should be slightly warmer than Sunday freezing level-wise, but offshore easterlies will reach the moderate range both at Pass level and ridgecrest in the Cascade Passes, the southwest Cascades, and the Mt. Hood area. Tuesday will be more of the same as the upper level ridge shifts east of the Rockies, turning the offshore flow more southeasterly.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Tuesday night through Tuesday

A splitting frontal system will miss us as the main energy shears into California Wednesday. Offshore flow will decrease, clouds will increase, and temperatures will remain quite mild. As a cut-off low meanders into California Thursday, we may see a few light showers rotate up from the south. Freezing levels will slowly decline on Thursday as the low passes to our south.
