Weather Synopsis for Monday night through Monday
After another cold and mostly clear night, the upper low positioned over the Washington/B.C. coast will shift inland on Tuesday. Another round of light to moderate easterly winds should affect the usual locations from Stevens Pass down to White Pass. Having the upper low further inland should allow for some afternoon cumulus build up across the region as well as a slight chance of an afternoon mountain snow shower mainly along the Cascade crest and the eastern slopes of the Cascades.
The upper low over our region will phase with the southern branch of the jet stream which has been directing the storm track into California recently. This should allow the flow aloft to become more southerly, with some light showers beginning Tuesday night. A shortwave trough rotating from the low on Wednesday should lift a broader area of showers and clouds during the day and evening. Snow levels will rise slightly in the afternoon compared to how cold its been over the last week.
