Weather Synopsis for Wednesday & Friday

An upper low is parked in the near-shore waters off the Washington Coast through Thursday. Upper-level winds are southerly out ahead of the ow but expect strong winds to continue through the mountain gaps Wednesday morning that should decrease throughout the day, becoming light overnight. The low is also spinning a weak band of light snow northward on Wednesday through Wednesday night. The light snow will affect the Hood and southern Washington Cascades, shifting northward and focusing more on the central and northern Washington Cascades overnight, bringing several inches of snow with totals slightly favoring E flow upslope locales. Some areas will see little more than a few flurries.

Throughout the short-term forecast, temperatures will remain below seasonal norms, with very chilly air Wednesday morning, particularly east of the Cascade crest moderating with daytime warming and slightly as the snow band lifts northward overnight.

On Thursday, a surface low forms and might spawn a few light snow showers near Mt. Hood, the southern Washington Cascades and Olympics. Elsewhere, expect partly cloudy, cool weather.
