Weather Synopsis for Sunday & Saturday

710 AM: Updated White Pass Weather for today

A north to south oriented front is pushing through the Pacific Northwest today. The front will stall and weaken as the trailing upper level trough digs south and sends part of the energy into California. Before the system washes out later this evening, areas favoring southerly flow (not the Passes) will pick up a decent shot of moisture, especially the Mt. Baker area, and with honorable mentions for Crystal, Mission Ridge and the south slopes of the Olympics.  Winds aloft are quite strong with this morning and generally showing up in higher elevation NWAC sites west of the Cascade crest.  Snow levels are on the rise west of the crest as well. Easterly flow through the Cascade passes will initially insulate the Passes, but all Passes should see light rain either later today or this evening.

Showers will diminish overnight through Monday morning as the front passes through the Cascades. A slow cooling trend will begin Sunday night. A stronger, wetter system will begin to take aim at the area late Monday afternoon.
