Weather Synopsis for Friday & Thursday

A flat upper level ridge over the eastern North Pacific is directing a very shallow trough inland across southern British Columbia on Friday with a cold front trailing into the northern portion of Washington state. The weak front should pass the Cascades during the late morning hours and is bringing light shower activity to the west slopes of the Cascades north of Snoqualmie Pass, but precipitation will shift southward during the morning hours, extending the possibility of precipitation from Mt. Rainier northward. Precipitation will decrease or end during the afternoon in most cases. The exception is a convergence band which will keep very light rain and snow in the forecast until the early morning areas and is most likely near the Snoqualmie Pass. Less moisture in the south is maintaining mild and mostly sunny conditions over the Mt Hood area. Some partial clearing is expected in the afternoon for the north Cascades and Olympics.

Temperatures will continue to be significantly warmer in the southern part of the forecast area. Mid-elevations on Mt. Hood may not see temperatures drop below freezing on Friday night.

On Saturday, weak ridging develops over southern British Columbia. Some lingering clouds in the morning will give way to mostly clear skies. Winds will be light.

Saturday night a trough moving south down the northern British Columbia coastline will bring increasing clouds ahead of it.
