Weather Synopsis for Monday & Wednesday
An upper-level shortwave feature is passing over the Pacific Northwest early this morning bringing a period of more intense snow showers at snow levels well below the Cascade passes. Snow showers within this cool, unstable airmass should generally decrease as the upper-level shortwave exits, except in an isolated Vancouver Island convergence zone during the mid-day hours just south of Mt. Baker. A shallow high pressure begins to build during the afternoon and overnight hours bringing generally fair weather.
On Tuesday, a moist bow-shaped front arrives ahead of a low heading north to the Queen Charlotte Islands off the BC coast bringing increasing moderate precipitation and significant warming to the Olympics and Hood regions in the afternoon along with moderate crest-level winds. The front will stall over the forecast region on Tuesday night, with moderate to occasionally heavy precipitation for the Cascades and further warming. Easterly flow should keep Snoqualmie Pass as snow.
